HEALTHY EATING - Calories count! So lets learn to count calories!!

While your concern may be that this may be a tedious life long approach to healthy living, it is necessary for you to first understand what causes you to gain weight before you can learn to control it.

The good news is that once you become familiar with the general calories count of the food you eat, then you will forever be aware of what you consume and how it may affect your body.

We've all heard about the merits of a well balance meal, which include daily servings of Fruits, Vegetables, Proteins, Fat, Dairy and of course Carbohydrates.

Our F.I.T program was designed round the reality that eating will always be a part of your daily routine, for the rest of your life, therefore, a lifetime of denial or abstinence from any group of food does not play a role in healthy eating.

You should balance your meal with roughly one-third each of protein, good carb and healthy fat. This is a realistic nutritional balance that will familiarize you with healthy eating habit and ensure that your body receives all of the nutrients it requires in order to function at its optimum level.

Please note that if the calories of your food is not indicated, you will still be able to measure the calories it contain. the most common way for estimating a serving, is to gauge it by the size of your own hand. Consider one serving of protein to be roughly the size and thickness of the palm of your hand while a serving of goo carb is equal to two of your loose fist.

Always be conscious of these measurements to ensure  you don't over eat during a meal and unintentionally consume more calories than you want.

It is also important to control portion sizes and breakdown protein, carbs and fat percentages, especially when you are learning to count calories.

It is equally very important to understand how to read and decipher a food label.
